Alex and I have been in the process of updating the market displays for about a month now. We have a few little pieces here and there, but to complete the collection we needed to swing by our favorite lumberyard! It's an older couple who owns and runs a little place on the side of the road. They carry a great variety of oak, cedar, pine and cypress. Last Saturday we stopped and picked out not just pieces for the market displays, but ended up coming home with two large (and heavy!) oak blocks to use as seating around the fire pit, as well as a headboard for our bed.
As we were exploring the different pieces and the history of the lumberyard, we learned they also sold Coke bottles and had 750,000 bottles! Some were just your everyday type of bottle, but they also had some rare ones (only 26 cases in the world...that sort of thing).
I look forward to visiting again soon - maybe to pick up more wood to make a funky studio table with some of the cypress or making a neat wall display!
