I realized it was because of my amazing creative team. With their combined experience, we were able to pull together my fantasy shoot. I want to introduce you to them, so I asked if they would answer a few questions to give you an insight into who they are and where they're heading.
Meet our Photographer:
Nicole Hamlin of Admyar Boudoir
Name: Nicole (Cavany)
Hamlin- I got married one year ago and I have procrastinated on changing my
name to Hamlin. Not that I don't want to, it's just that I am dreading the
Social Security Office!
Favorite quote: "If
it's about you, it's up to you" -My mom Tammy Cavany
When/how did you decide you
wanted to be a photographer?: I was always fascinated by photography as a
child. In high school I was lucky enough to take photography and learn to
develop 35mm film in a dark room (which is a dying art form). I have always
been passionate about capturing a single moment with my camera, but I didn't
start working professionally as a photographer until about two years ago.
What do you hope to bring
to the world through your art?: Beauty, Confidence, Enlightenment, and I hope
to empower artists everywhere to not be afraid to do what they love: Create.
Describe yourself in two
words: Passionate Artist.
Name three of your
strengths and one of your weaknesses: Strengths would be: Adaptable, Creative,
and a quick learner.
What do you like best about
yourself?: I love that I am open minded and have learned to portray confidence
in everything I do.
What are your goals for
2013?: Strengthen my brand by showing women that they can be Fearless,
Feminine, and Sensual through boudoir photography.
What do you think is the
toughest part of being a woman today?: Believing that you are beautiful.
What advice can you give
aspiring photographers?: Never. Ever. Stop. Learning. Period.
Meet our Model:
Karoline Kate
Name: Karoline Kate
Favorite Quote:? “In spite of everything, I
still believe that people are really good at heart.”-Anne Frank
When/How did you decide you want to be a
model?: I use to get dressed up and take pictures of myself for fun when I was
bored, then somehow modeling just fell into my lap and taking pictures, and
being in pictures wasn’t just a hobby anymore it was something I was really
passionate about. And now I continue to work hard and get better at what I do
to hopefully be able to do big things one day.
What do you hope to bring to the world
through your art?: Defiantly that not every model has to be as cookie cutter as
the world has presumed models to be, every woman comes in their own shape and
size with their own look. Things like height and waist size shouldn’t hold you
back.
Describe yourself in two words: Creative
Dreamer
Name three of your strengths and one of
your weaknesses:
My biggest weakness is defiantly
confidence, when people hear you are a model they usually immediately assume
you are vain or arrogant, but everyone has insecurities whether they show them
or not. And mine sometimes tend to get the best of me in everyday life.
1) When
I set my mind to do something, I do it. And I do it right and to the best of my
ability.
2) I
always try to see the best in people.
3) I
embrace my uniqueness and let all the negative commentary about my eccentric
style roll off my back, I am who I am and I am never changing for anyone who
doesn’t like it.
What do you like best about yourself?: That I am
more of a leader then a follower. I don’t fall into one certain style or one
certain trend I just do my own thing; I’ve never looked at people and thought I
want to be just like them, I’ve always wanted to be just like me. Be that
person other people want to look up to.
What are your goals for 2013?: Get more exposure
in the modeling world, work on my photography skills, start college, try to
start being a more “live in the moment” kind of person and worry less about
things that aren’t as important as I think they are.
What do you think is the toughest part of being a
woman today?: Being expected to meet the unrealistic standards the worlds laid
out for you. Just because you are a woman doesn’t mean you have to get married
or have children, and that you shouldn’t go to college, or that you have to wear
makeup and spend hours making yourself look perfect.
Being a woman in this day in age means
getting judged every step you take in life no matter what it is.
What advice can you give aspiring models?: Stay
true to yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t have what it takes, because
you do. Also, don’t change who you are to meet anyone’s standards but your own.
Never let negative remarks or negative people get you down, or make you think
you can never live out your dreams. Be patient and positive eventually your
hard work will pay off and all those people who said you’ll never make it will
be left speechless.
Meet our Makeup Artist:
Name: Amanda Hopcraft
Favorite quote:
“If you
never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good.” – Dr. Seuss
When/how did you decide you
wanted to be a makeup artist?: My love for makeup {and slight flare for the
dramatic} started when I was around 11 or 12. I started doing drama and theater
and somehow through that, I was bit by the bug. I had years where I thought I wanted
to do something else; all the while in the background I knew I would be a
makeup artist some day. To some degree I think fate took over to bring me to
where I am today. It’s the one thing in my life that above anything else I knew
I wanted to do. In 2010, after completing grad school, I decided to make it my
full time career and the rest is history.
What do you hope to bring
to the world through your art?: My passion is making everyday women feel
glamorous and beautiful. I feel like my work makes people happy and ultimately
that’s really what I think most artists desire to achieve.
Describe yourself in two
words: adaptable, extrovert
Name three of your
strengths and one of your weaknesses:
Strengths:
- I can talk to anyone
-I’m a really fast learner
- I complete a goal when I
set my mind to it
Weakness:
- I sometimes take too many
projects on and overwhelm myself.
What do you like best about
yourself?: My sense of humor hands down.
What are your goals for
2013?: To grow my business, travel, be an amazing leader, help someone.
What advice can you give
aspiring makeup artist?: Make sure you have a well rounded education, there is
SO much more about this business than just applying makeup.
Stylist & Jewelry Designer:
Ashley Taylor of Sailor's Omen (me!)
Name: Ashley Taylor
Favorite quote: I actually
have two all-time favorite quotes:
“There are only two mistakes one can
make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.”
“Your work
is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.”
When/how did you decide you
wanted to be a jewelry designer?:
It all started out making my own jewelry in middle school. I was obsessed with creating everything
from simple macramé anklets to elaborate bib necklaces. Even while in college I still made
jewelry. Working on so much detail
gave me zen and I was able to find a nice escape from the pressures of
academics. I even sold one of my
handmade necklaces right off my neck during my senior art show. After college, I went to work for a
bead wholesaler who expanded my knowledge of stones and taught me about their
energies. I was never happier
working with hundreds of strands of different stones from about the globe. Realizing how important it was to use
this knowledge I began working with stones – improving my intuition, learning
how to drill through and string them up.
After spending lots of money on beads and producing so much jewelry, I decided
to start consigning some of it to make my money back. That got the whole crazy ball rolling.
What do you hope to bring to
the world through your art?: I
wish to bring the beauty of peace and clarity to the world through my art by
the use of materials and the atmosphere I create with - because with peace and clarity,
it is much easier to see and share love.
Lol I can be such a hippie!
Describe yourself in two
words: Adaptable & intuitive.
Name three of your strengths
and one of your weaknesses: Strengths:
Determined, compassionate, and experimental. Weakness: Too willing to please.
What do you like best about
yourself?: I like who I am: I laugh, dance and cry when I want to,
I love with all my heart and soul, I have the desire to always seek truth and I
try to see everything with “new eyes.”
What are your goals for
2013?: Continue trekking to find
my own unique style for Sailor’s Omen, learn the art of electroforming and
maybe even clean my up my studio.
What do you think is the
toughest part of being a woman today?:
Balance. Having a career, a
home life, and a healthy exercise and diet are a lot to take on, and with so
much pressure from every angle it’s easy to get cornered and block out the
rest.
What advice can you give
aspiring jewelry designers?:
Practice makes perfect.
Find your style through trial and error. Don’t be afraid to try new things.
Once again, I'd like to thank our amazingly talented team. Be sure to show them some love by liking their pages on FB and checking out their websites. I'm looking forward to working with them all again!
